What will comfort Terry Gilliam - Deauville?
Terry Gilliam's unfinished project The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has come to another standstill. The main roles were supposed to be played by Robert Duval and Ewan McGregor. The film's funding collapsed about a month and a half ago and although Gilliam has spent 10 years trying to shoot it, he is still hoping for an optimistic finale. His previous attempts were documented by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe in the film Lost in La Mancha (2002). As consolation, Gilliam accepted an invitation to the 36th Deauville American Film Festival (5-12.09.2010). This is one of the oldest European festivals devoted to American cinema. It has been held since 1975 in Deauville, France. Terry Gilliam is the honorary guest of DAFF. His film Brazil, renovated after many years, was screened at the festival's opening ceremony and the programme included an entire retrospective of his films. |
