Michael Moore
Born in 1954 in Flint, Michigan. Moore, fired from the progressive magazine 'Mother Jones' for describing the GM plant closings in Flint, sued the publication and settled for $58,000. He used the money to make Roger and Me (1989) on the Fling plant closings. The film was a hit, and launched Moore’s career as a multimedia sociopolitical commentator. In the 1990s, Moore produced a television series, hosted TV Nation on the BBC, and published Downsize This!, a bestseller on the politics of American corporations. His documentaries since 2000 readily compete at the box office with feature films, winning him an Oscar, Golden Palm, a César, and tens of other awards.
